10:01 pm

10:02 pm
before he called the attack. >> he did in fact, sir, let me call it an act of terror. he did call it an act of terror. >> as expected, the moderator, cnn political reporter, candy crowley did not sit on the sidelines. >> i have to move you along. >> you got the first question, so i get the last answer on that one. >> in a followup, it doesn't work like that. i'm going to give you a chance. >> i understand mistakes, but i will get run out of town if i don't allow -- >> i just described to you how i do it with a single number that people can put and they can put their productions and credits. >> mr. president, we are keeping track, i promise you. >> we have to bring in our cbs 5 political analyst. we talk about the sparks flying. we talk about them being combative. did any of them go too far? >> i have to challenge scott

pelley. the politics have been evolving this way steadily. the ranker you see in san francisco or oakland where people are at each other's throats, you see reflected in campaigns as well. tonight, we saw the next step in the evolution of that. there was something that was a little undignified in some ways about seeing the governor tell the president to wait his turn. you are talking to the man who has the nuclear launch codes and saying wait your turn. this is a candidate speaking to the president of united states that can order the army into war. there is something surreal about that, but it is frankly the next evolutionary step in the kind of politics we have this this country. you saw that tonight. >> it's not okay. but i have to say, it's also, remember i said what we saw last week. that sort of got a lot of people feathers ruffled about

10:05 pm
what people expected him to do two weeks ago, he reminded voters, almost ruthlessly about the 47% comment. saying who do you think he is talking about? this is his bid for those undecided voters that are sitting on the fence right now, not sure about this. reminding about people, this is what romney says in private. the people that support romney are going to do elected. the president had the last word tonight. i think that gave him an effective win in this. the same thing romney had that in the first debate. the polls are going to say the president won this debate. >> in that last word can be so important. thank you so much for joining us. for more campaign 2012 news and views, check out our presidential form. it's on cbssf.com. every day the candidates weigh in on the matters that matter to you. i'm grace lee, cbs 5.
